The Kayak Education & Leadership Program (KELP) informs kayakers on marine wildlife regulations and guidelines with the aim to reduce human-powered vessel disturbance to Southern Resident orcas and all marine wildlife within the San Juan Islands.
Prior to taking the test, you are encouraged to view the KELP Training Video for 2018 available on the Soundwatch YouTube Channel. (The 2017 version is also available here.)
Upon completion of KELP Testing, professional kayak guides will be documented to launch groups at San Juan County Park for the current year without having to watch the video each time. Individuals are also welcome to sign up.
Each registered attendee will have two opportunities to pass the test during a Testing session. If unsuccessful, registering/paying for another class is required.
Please select the number of tickets (attendees), desired date, and enter attendee names separated by commas in the box below. To select multiple dates, return to this page from your shopping cart.
