Lummi (K-7) was believed to be the oldest orca in the Southern Resident Community upon her death in 2008. Perhaps she and Granny (J-2), estimated birth year of 1911, spent time together as youngsters. Together they survived shootings, numerous capture attempts, decades of man-made contaminants, and the collapse of salmon numbers once too numerous to fathom. Lummi is also featured in DVD The Wild Whales of the Salish Sea Vol 2.
