Proceeds from orca adoptions support ongoing education, research and public outreach on behalf of the Southern Resident Community of killer whales.


Takoda is the fourth known calf of Nugget (L-55), first seen near Monterey Bay, California in March, 2007. Takoda means "friend to everyone" in the Sioux Indian language.

A one-year symbolic orca adoption includes:

Starting February 15th, The Whale Museum will be operating under a new seasonal schedule.

The Whale Museum will now be open Friday through Monday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

For school and adult groups wanting to schedule visits outside normal operating hours, we may be able to open the museum for your group by appointment! Please contact our Education Director Tracie Merrill (tracie@whalemuseum.org) at least one week in advance to inquire about our off-day availability.
