A medium-sized seabird in the alcid family, the Pigeon Guillemot inhabits rocky coastlines from California to Alaska and across the North Pacific in western Siberia. They nest in burrows or rock cavities, often on small islands. They generally feed close to shore; in the summer, look for their vermillion legs set against their dark plumage and white wing patches.
