While not a news story, "Operation Orca" is an interesting series being published by The Tyee in Canada. The series is written by Daniel Francis and Gil Hewlett (also the authors of the book).
The book "Operation Orca" (Harbour Publishing) recounts the efforts to save Springer in Puget Sound and Luna near Gold River from a lost whale's slow death. Along the way, in these four excerpts published by The Tyee, we learn about how our view of killer whales has profoundly changed in just a few short decades.
